It is the safest sexual act... it is the most commonly know (and practiced) sexual act... Men and women practice it alike (although I wonder about the ration... perhaps guys do it more?). It is less messy for women... and very intense for both sexes.
Why do we masturbate? Because our sexual life is not enough? Because the sensation is more intense, more concentrated? Do we masturbate so we can fantasize about someone else? Do we masturbate simply because it is fun? Because we just can? All of the above? Because there'd be no one to nag us after sex and call us 18 times in 2 days? (I feel for ya Mat...)
Women, for once, have the advantage of being able to do it practically anywhere, anytime, without the need of tissue or napkin, or whatever... Heck, if you feel stressed and pissed of in the middle of the work day, or if you just feel horny, you can just go to the bathroom and take care of yourself (it's trickier for guys).
What else? I'd really like to know why you do "it" and how often... Indulge my curiosity.

Me, not too much. When I was younger, about three times a week. That schedule took me from teenager to mid thirties.
I've been doing it for over 50 years (really!). The frequency has has slowed down over the years but I still do it regularly. The reason has been the same throughout the years...it just feels good! May is National Masturbation Month so join the festiviities!
People not only phisically masturbate, They also do it mentally!
I did it the first time at the age of 13 then very often till 20 ! then it depends on the amount of sex i'm having with my partners

About the frequency it depandes on who and how old.

Acte obligatoire et nécessaire aussi bien à l'homme qu'à la femme. Lorsque nous sommes sucités par le désir sexuel, et qu'aucun partenaire n'est disponible, il est OBLIGATOIRE de se masturber. Les conséquences d'un refus seraient des douleurs que même les médicaments auraient du mal à soulager. OUI, OUI sans exagérer !!
Le plaisir est autre que faire l'amour. Mais ce qui est bizarre, c'est que les hommes se masturbent plus que les femmes ( si si), ou l'avouent plus que les femmes.
Je n'ai pas besoin de donner le nombre de fois , ou préciser les endroits , mais je confirme que ça fait partie de notre sexualité, queque soit notre statut ( célibataire,marié ...).
